A pioneer in biomethane production, Ecometano has played a key role in the regulation of biomethane in the country, being the first company to produce biomethane on a commercial scale. The company operates in all phases of a biomethane project – from project analysis and feasibility to commercialization and distribution of the gas, including biomethane purification technologies. We have proprietary technologies to generate biomethane from different sources (urban solid waste, sanitation waste, agrosilvopastoral waste, or the sugar-energy sector) to maintain a continuous supply of biomethane to the consumer market. Currently, it has three units in operation.

GNR Dois Arcos
In operation since 2014, the unit is a pioneer in the capture and treatment of biogas generated from renewable sources for biomethane production.
The plant is part of Clean Development Mechanism and it prevents that 76,000 CO2 equivalent tons are released in the atmosphere every year, enabling greenhouse gas emission decrease, performing positively before future generations.
- Located in São Pedro da Aldeia, Rio de Janeiro.
- Installed capacity of 15,000 m³ of biomethane per day.
- It produces biomethane from biogas captured at the Dois Arcos Landfill, with Osafi as a partner.
- It was the first plant in Brazil to produce biomethane on a commercial scale.
- It is certified by the RenovaBio program.
- It issues biomethane traceability certificates, carbon credits, and decarbonization credits (CBIOs).

GNR Fortaleza
In operation since 2018, the plant captures and treats the biogas produced at the Oeste Municipal Landfill in Caucaia, a region that receives the majority of the solid waste generated in Greater Fortaleza. The unit is a national and international reference in biomethane production.
It prevents 600,000 tons of CO2 equivalent from being released into the atmosphere annually, helping to minimize greenhouse gas emissions and contributing positively to future generations.
The carbon credits from the unit can be issued through project 4209 of the Verified Carbon Standard to achieve reductions or removals of greenhouse gas emissions associated with the Verified Carbon Units (VCUs) of GNR Fortaleza Valorização de Biogás LTDA.
- It has an installed capacity of 100,000 m³/day of biomethane.
- It is located in Caucaia, Ceará.
- It captures and treats the biogas generated at the Oeste Municipal Landfill of Caucaia (ASMOC), responsible for managing the majority of the solid waste in the Fortaleza region.
- The unit is the result of a partnership between MDC and Marquise Ambiental.
- It was the first biomethane plant with injection into a pipeline and the first biomethane plant certified by RenovaBio.
- It has the highest biomethane production efficiency at scale in Brazil.
- The unit's production is directly injected into the distribution network of Companhia de Gás do Ceará (Cegás), currently representing approximately 20% of the state's natural gas consumption, which now has one of the highest percentages of renewable gas circulating in the network worldwide.
- It was also a pioneer in the issuance and commercialization of biomethane traceability certificates.

Biometano Caieiras
Inaugurated in 2024, the unit is the result of a partnership between MDC and Solví Ambiental. Authorized by the National Petroleum, Natural Gas, and Biofuels Agency (ANP), the plant has an installed capacity to produce approximately 70,000 m³/day of the biofuel.
Located in the municipality of Caieiras, in the metropolitan region of São Paulo, the plant processes the biogas captured by Solví Essencis at its Sustainable Valorization Unit (UVS), one of the largest landfills in the world. Covering an area of 3.5 million square meters and receiving 10,500 tons of waste daily, mainly from Greater São Paulo and other municipalities, the Caieiras UVS is an example of a circular economy, transforming waste into clean, renewable biofuel.
- Production of approximately 70,000 m³ per day of biomethane.
- Located in the third-largest landfill in the world.
- The plant will be able to issue CBIOs (decarbonization credits) through the RenovaBio Program, further strengthening its commitment to sustainability.
ERB – Energias Renováveis do Brasil is a reference in the national market for the renewable production of electricity from steam generation through biomass, offering customized solutions and sustainable technologies to its clients. Currently, the company operates a unit in Bahia.

ERB Aratinga
- Installed capacity: 150 ton/h of steam - 16.8 MW of energy
- Operation start: April, 2014
Brazil´s largest compressed natural gas (CNG) marketing; and it delivers, apart from CNG, liquefied natural gas (LNG), natural gas for vehicles (NGV) and biomethane to 45 cities that did not have access previously. Established in 2006, the company services especially industrial customers.

- Brazil´s largest gas supplier
- Experience at raw, treated natural gas and biomethane marketing;
- Operation in natural gas chain, focusing on gas acquisition in small and mid-size onshore producers, taking over responsibility for natural gas treatment, separation, compression and marketing, from producer to end customer.
- Several product logistic expertise, including long routes with several deliveries.
- Operation central that manages all chain online 24/7: operation safety and quality assurance.
- The internal engineering team develops customized solutions to each customer, using the best technologies available in the market.
- It gathers commercial, logistic, technical and regulatory expertises to develop production and/or consumption isolated or connected to the network.
- Capacidade instalada: 300.000 m³/dia.
- Activities: Gas compression, transport, delivery, operation, lease and marketing (natural gas and biomethane).
